Log Home Repair

JLHR is excited to be restoring aging log buildings and preserving history. Although, both modern and vintage homes need repairing over time

Repairs take place when you notice damage such as fire damage, storm, water, insect infestation, and log rot.

How We Repair Log Homes

Repairing log sections of your home are done by using wood fillers, epoxy hardeners, and  woodpatching products that are designed to be highly resistant to water. This will fix the desired area that you are having problems with and be sure to keep the log sealed and protected as it once had been.

To find out whether your logs need repairing,  regular maintenance and inspections are required. Identifying the problem and assessing the damaged areas. When looking for log rot, use a rubber mallet to tap on each log in the affected area. Once determining which logs are too damaged for repair, the next step would be is to cut out the area and seek out an appropriate replacement.

Minor repairs on checks, cracks, knots and soft spots can be dealt with by a simple cosmetic repair.  For a major repair however, we would go to the next step and think about the replacement of the damaged section.

If you do find moisture in an area on your log home, JLHR is able to cut out the damage. We will make a visit to check out the problem and discuss your options on how to repair your home.
