Saves Natural Look, has UV Protection, Flexibility of Logs, Non Porous, Wood Grain Visibility & Sealing. Applying high quality finishes to your logs is one of the best things you can do for your home. Making sure you keep up with the recommended restain timeline is crucial.

Advantages of Staining

UV rays and water will damage your logs if not sealed with stain. Depending on what has previously been applied to your logs, there are a few different options of stains to choose from.

Stain options include water or oil based finishes and can come in multiple pigments to offer your log home a variety of looks such as transparent, semi transparent, semi solid and solid stain.

When choosing between oil and water based, stains contain different factors.  These include different levels of protection as well as coverage for logs with previous treatment and weather exposure. Water based will dry quickly, have long lasting colour, provides a richer hue of colour, no harmful odor, breathable, extremely mold/ mildew resistant.

Oil based stain penetrates wood more deeply, its extremely durable, thicker seal for wood, has less long term maintenance but takes a bit more time to dry after applying compared to the water based.

After properly preparing your logs, staining allows your home to be sealed and protected from weather to feel at ease knowing that you’ve done everything to keep your home healthy and safe
