Another option is to clean your log building with a log wash using products such as

PermaChink Log Wash, Sansin Log Wash and Borate. These wood cleaners will remove mold, mildew, dark spots and can be used along with a pressure washer depending on the condition of the logs.

Borate is a cleaning method that is a safelong lasting protectant for wood by preventing fungal decay, and wood being destroyed by termites, carpenter ants, beetles and any other pests detrimental to wood.

For a more gentle approach in preserving your logs, hand sanding of logs is efficient and used for more softer wood compared to media blasting. Sanding allows the stain to be removed and to restore the beauty of the natural log. Sanding has a major affect on previous pigment on logs because stain can be lodged in pores not allowing the log home to breathe causing rot.

In addition, media blasting is another method for more critical cases and is used to obtain a brand new look to your logs. It is an aggressive procedure that is performed if finish is faded, peeling or turning grey/ black. Overtime, logs may have many layers of stain applied, this eventually will become a problem as it does not allow logs to breathe, necessary for a healthy log home.

Media blasting can rid the layers allowing you to achieve a refinished look that will be as good as new. Along with these procedures, we are also able to apply wood brightening chemical to refresh and bring log pigment back to life before applying a new finish.
